Courtney Ward began practicing yoga when she moved to Amherst in 2011 – she found HaTha Yoga Room and has never left! She is the Owner/Operator of HaTha Yoga Room. Courtney completed her 200 hour yoga teacher training with Breathing Space Yoga studio in Halifax and began teaching immediately after. Shortly after she began teaching, Courtney became certified in teaching prenatal yoga and enjoys continuing her yogic education through workshops and weekend retreats.
Her favourite style to practice and teach is Vinyasa Flow as she loves the meditative qualities of connecting movement to breath.
Coming from a health science background as a kinesiologist, Courtney has enjoyed physical fitness for years, however yoga is the only physical practice that has remained consistent in her life. No matter where you are in your life, in your body or in your mind, yoga is for you.
Courtney hopes to see you soon!

Courtenay is a fitness instructor who began teaching indoor cycling at the Cumberland YMCA in 2014. As a young person who hated being sweaty and preferred spending her time inside reading, she has gratitude toward good timing and the people who inspired and helped her get to where she is today. She has taught a variety of classes, but jumped at the opportunity to teach Hot Core at HaTha because of the welcoming atmosphere, friendly community, and rewarding physical challenge.
Courtenay has found exercise, and group fitness in particular, to be incredibly helpful in her own life. It has been a way to carve out time and be present, enjoy movement, and often enjoy some upbeat music. Courtenay is an eclectic mix of all of those who have seen her potential, fostered her growth, and helped her heal along the way. One of the most wonderful feelings is getting to lead someone through something they thought would never be possible for them. We show up, sweat together, laugh together, and leave all the better for it.
Eleanor graduated from her 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training in 2024 and began teaching with us immediately after!
